Spring 2018 : Congratulations to Ting-Yu on the Vision Science Society student travel award! Ting-Yu’s research focuses on the neural processing of three-dimensional vision.
December 2017 : Congratulations to Arij Beshish on her PhD defense!
‘Right Heart – Pulmonary Vascular Interactions in Adults Born Preterm‘
Under the guidance of Marlowe Eldridege MD, Arij demonstrated that teenagers who were born very prematurely (28 weeks and <1500 g) have pulmonary hypertension and are at risk for heart failure.
Arij is now a resident Pediatrics at UW Madison and plans to remain in academic medicine.
September 2017 : Congratulations to Adam Goldring on defending his PhD!
‘Maturation of Hair Cell Mechanotransducer Channels‘
Under the guidance of Robert Fettiplace, Adam showed that mechanotransducer channels are protein complexes whose composition changes as mice mature.
Adam is now a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University.
September 2017 – Congratulations Yaxian Zhao for a successful PhD defense!
‘The Role of Intracellular Domains in KCNH Potassium Channel Gating’
Yaxian’s research under Gail Robertson, has made significant contributions to understanding voltage-gated K+ channels, their susceptibility to drugs, and their roles in electrically excitable tissues.
Yaxian began her medical education in China and plans to return to medicine, she is beginning a residency program.
April 2017 : Congratulations Chen Ji on a successful PhD defense
‘The Role of Phosphoinositide in Insulin Granule Exocytosis’
April 2017 : Congratulations to Laura Tetri for defending her PhD!
‘Early Developmental Exposure to Hyperoxic Stress as a Risk Factor for Dysfunctional Skeletal Muscle Aerobic Metabolism and Metabolic Disease
December 2016 : Congratulations Jianbo Xiao on a successful PhD defense!
‘Neural Representation of Multiple Moving Features in Extrastriate Visual Cortical Area MT’
Under Xin Huang’s guidance, Jianbo studied the actions of cortical neurons in the process of thinking. Jianbo now uses neural networks in industry at Chegg.
